The latest beta version of the Google app (17.10.54.sa.arm64) has introduced several updates to the Gemini user interface, including a new "Discover" tab in the sidebar that currently leads to an empty page. The sidebar may be redesigned for a more streamlined layout, featuring a settings shortcut at the bottom. Gemini's "Thinking" responses will now be presented in a bottom sheet format for improved clarity. The sidebar serves as a navigation tool, allowing users to switch between chats and access app sections, with some variations tested appearing unfinished. One version successfully loads chat history and includes minor UI adjustments that align with the web interface design. The Gemini overlay has also been refined to separate input and responses, adding a prominent close button and repositioning the voice output feature. Not all features from the APK teardown may be included in the public release.

Microsoft has decided against the automatic installation of the Microsoft 365 Copilot App on Windows 11 by default, influenced by user feedback. The automatic installation, planned for December 2025, is temporarily disabled, while existing installations remain unaffected. Admins can still deploy the app through other methods. The Microsoft 365 Copilot App is a rebranded version of the Microsoft 365 / Office Hub, which was initially intended to be automatically installed alongside the regular Copilot App. This decision faced backlash from users who preferred an opt-in option rather than automatic installations. In response, Microsoft is focusing on resolving existing bugs and enhancing core features in Windows 11, indicating a shift from its previous "AI-everywhere" strategy.

Google is planning to revise its Photos app redesign due to user feedback on usability issues. The update will reintegrate elements of the previous editor interface, including direct access to essential tools like Crop, Adjust, and Filters, which will return to a scrollable carousel at the bottom of the editor. The dedicated “Crop” menu will also be reintroduced as a unified category. Visual enhancements will include Action labels in pill-shaped borders for better visibility and a more compact “Ask” button replacing the larger “Help Me Edit” prompt. Additionally, Google is testing a new “Explore” tab that will feature a vertically scrolling, TikTok-style feed of personal videos generated by AI. This update is being rolled out to a select group of users, with a broader release expected soon.
