Users of USB-connected dual-mode printers are experiencing erratic outputs, producing nonsensical text due to a problematic update from Microsoft, specifically the Windows 11 23H2 update (KB5050092) released in late January. This glitch affects dual-mode printers using both USB Print and Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) over USB, leading to random data outputs that often start with 'POST /ipp/print HTTP/1.1'. The issue arises when the printer is powered on or reconnected, as the print spooler incorrectly transmits certain IPP protocol messages. Microsoft has suggested that the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) feature can mitigate the problem temporarily, and a permanent fix is planned for a future Windows update.
