Unreal Tournament 2004 Is Available For Free, And Has Just Got Its First Patch “In Over 20 Years”

In November 2024, the Unreal community, OldUnreal, released installers for Unreal Gold and Unreal Tournament, allowing free downloads from Archive.org with Epic Games' endorsement. Recently, OldUnreal has revived Unreal Tournament 2004, enabling players to access it for free through a direct download from Archive.org or via an installer on OldUnreal's website. A new installer was hinted at in December, and players can also download a significant patch (3374) from GitHub, which modernizes the codebase and introduces various improvements, including a new SDL backend for Linux and macOS. This is the first public patch for Unreal Tournament 2004 in over 20 years.

The patch includes numerous fixes and improvements, making it the first public patch for Unreal Tournament 2004 in over 20 years. Unreal Tournament 2004 features visual enhancements, a broader array of game modes, and introduced vehicle-based Onslaught modes and the objective-driven Assault mode. Although finding multiplayer matches may be challenging, the game's robust AI allows for solo play. The community patch supports online games except on servers with AntiTCC.

Microsoft releases 2026’s first Insider build of Windows 11

The latest Insider build of Windows 11, KB5072046, updates the operating system to build 26220.7535 and is available to Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels. A significant enhancement is the new Narrator feature powered by Copilot, which allows users to generate AI-driven descriptions for images. This feature is not available in the European Economic Area due to regulatory restrictions. Windows 11 still can’t do it — but PowerToys will be able to next month

New Windows Terminal updates fix crashes, pasting issues, and more
