UK developer Sports Interactive has officially announced the cancellation of Football Manager 25 due to a variety of challenges, including the transition from their proprietary engine to Unity, which complicated the development process. The studio stated that despite efforts to meet ambitious goals, they did not achieve the necessary standards for the game, particularly in player experience and interface. Football Manager 25 was initially scheduled for release in early November, then postponed to March 2025. This cancellation follows earlier setbacks for Sega's European division, including the scrapping of the development of Hyenas at Creative Assembly.
