New Windows 11 emergency update fixes preview update install issues

Microsoft released an out-of-band update (KB5086672) to address installation issues caused by the March 2026 non-security preview update (KB5079391) for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. The initial update led to errors indicating missing or problematic update files, prompting Microsoft to halt its rollout. The new emergency update consolidates previous updates and is available through Windows Update for automatic installations or can be manually accessed via Settings. Additionally, Microsoft has addressed issues from earlier Patch Tuesday security updates affecting sign-ins with Microsoft accounts and has released two other out-of-band updates targeting Bluetooth visibility bugs and security vulnerabilities in the Routing and Remote Access Service. Guidance has also been provided for resolving access issues on C: drives of Samsung Windows 11 laptops linked to specific Samsung applications.

Samsung Brings Agentic AI to Windows with New Browser Launch

Samsung Electronics has launched the Samsung Browser for Windows, allowing seamless browsing between mobile and PC devices. Users can continue their browsing sessions across devices, manage personal information securely with Samsung Pass, and utilize an AI-powered assistant for enhanced web interaction. The browser features intelligent content understanding, advanced natural language processing for efficient searching, and multi-tab context awareness. It is compatible with Windows 11 and Windows 10 (version 1809 and above), with AI features currently available in South Korea and the United States. Users need the latest Samsung Account version and the Samsung Continuity Service or Galaxy Connect app to access these features. Initial availability is on the Galaxy Book3, 4, 5, and 6 series, with plans for broader device compatibility. The functions of Samsung Pass may vary by country, and agentic AI features require a network connection and Samsung Account login, available in version 29.0.4 and above.

Microsoft says, for once, Windows update isn’t to blame for Galaxy Book4 laptops losing access to C: drive — the Galaxy Connect app was the culprit, and it’s been taken down from Microsoft Store

In early February, users of Samsung's Galaxy Book4 laptops reported storage issues, specifically error messages stating, "C: is not accessible," which locked them out of their primary drive. Investigations by Microsoft and Samsung identified the Galaxy Connect app, preinstalled on these devices, as the cause of the problem due to its interaction with Windows that revoked permissions. Reports of the issue surfaced before the February 2026 security update for Windows 11, which was initially suspected to be the trigger. Microsoft acknowledged the problem on its website about ten days prior to March 16, when it was marked as "externally resolved." To help affected users, Microsoft provided a recovery article and both companies removed the Galaxy Connect app from their stores, replacing it with an older version. Only users who experienced the issue need to take action to restore their systems.
