Amazon Appstore will no longer be available on Android

Amazon will discontinue its Appstore for Android devices effective August 20, 2025, and will also terminate its Coins digital currency program. Users will lose access to the Appstore on Android devices, but any coins held in accounts by that date will be eligible for a refund. The Appstore will continue to operate on Amazon's proprietary devices, including Fire TV and Fire Tablets. Additionally, Amazon will end support for its app store on Windows, which had allowed Android applications since March 5, 2025.

One UI 7 brings enhanced parental controls over websites and apps

Samsung has introduced new parental control features in One UI 7 for the Galaxy S25 series, allowing parents to oversee their children's online activities, particularly in web browsing and app downloads. The new content restrictions page enables parents to manage web content on Samsung Internet and regulate app downloads from the Galaxy Store. Parents can activate a content filter to block access to sexually explicit and violent sites, and set maximum age ratings for apps and games. These features are expected to be presented during the initial setup for devices intended for children, with modifications requiring parental approval. Currently, these features are exclusive to the Galaxy S25, with plans for future updates to extend them to other Samsung devices.

Samsung keeps adding new features to the Messages app it supposedly sunset

Samsung has updated its Messages app with new features, including the ability to edit messages sent to other Galaxy devices running One UI 7, allowing up to three edits within 15 minutes after sending. Each edited message is marked, and a history of edits can be accessed. Additionally, there is an auto-delete function for one-time password (OTP) messages, which deletes them after 24 hours and permanently after 30 days. These features are reportedly available on the Galaxy S25, but some users have faced limitations based on regional software versions. The editing feature is likely limited to RCS messages, as SMS does not support it. Despite previous statements about phasing out the Messages app, the updates suggest Samsung's continued commitment to it.

Google warns Android users of a zero-day software exploit causing instability
