Once a promising blend of League of Legends and World of Warcraft, I’m gutted that this new roguelike only lasted a month

Vela Games has announced the closure of its fantasy PvE roguelike title, Evercore Heroes Ascension, just one month after its full release from Early Access. The game will officially shut down on October 30, 2025, at 4 AM PT / 7 AM ET / 11 AM GMT. Despite initial excitement and various development changes, including a shift from a MOBA/MMO hybrid to a co-op roguelike format, the game struggled to maintain player engagement and received a 'Mostly Negative' rating on Steam. Vela decided to eliminate matchmaking and multiplayer features, reducing the experience to a solitary adventure, which disappointed many fans. The developer expressed that they could not sustain the game due to early negative reviews and limited resources.

Another live service shooter is getting shut down, this time before it even launched on Steam

Star Wars: Hunters will not be released on PC as initially hoped, with the final content update scheduled for April 15th, and the game remaining playable until October 1st, 2025, when the online servers will shut down. The announcement did not address the delayed Steam release, which was initially set for January 2025. The game debuted in June 2024 after several delays and has received a lukewarm reception, holding a 57 aggregate score on Metacritic for the Nintendo Switch.

Dungeonborne, the game that once threatened to steal Dark and Darker’s crown, is closing in May

Dungeonborne, developed by Mithril Interactive, will officially close, with new account registrations and in-game purchases ending on February 28 and the game going offline on May 28. The game was first revealed in February 2024 but received mixed feedback and struggled to gain traction, peaking at only 22 concurrent players recently. The lack of consistent updates contributed to its decline. In contrast, Dark and Darker, a similar game, has thrived, peaking at nearly 12,000 concurrent players after returning to Steam in June 2024.
