FPS Quest links player health to framerate, causing framerate drops as the character takes damage. Players can upgrade weapons and manipulate the game environment to boost framerate and health, such as replacing a 3D gun with a 2D sprite or altering level geometry. One upgrade can increase framerate by 10 fps at the cost of removing structural columns, which eliminates cover. This mechanic encourages a balance between alterations and game stability.

Payday 3 is struggling to attract players, with only about 500 concurrent players reported on SteamDB, while its predecessor, Payday 2, has around 27,000 players even after 12 years. Starbreeze has introduced a subscription service for Payday 2's DLC, which has been generally well-received despite some player concerns. The studio has partnered with Sidetrack, known for their work in the Payday modding community, to enhance Payday 2, with the first update expected on October 23. Starbreeze acknowledges the initial criticism of Payday 3 as a "bad experience" and is committed to improving it, including plans to double the team size dedicated to the game.

Capcom will stop guaranteeing stability for its Monster Hunter series on Windows 10 after October 14, due to Microsoft's end of life for the operating system. Players of titles like Monster Hunter: World, Monster Hunter: Wilds, and Monster Hunter: Rise may face compatibility issues with future updates, and Capcom will not provide fixes for these issues. Other games, such as Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil Requiem, may encounter similar challenges. Alternatives like Tiny11 and Valve's SteamOS are becoming more appealing for gamers who do not wish to upgrade to Windows 11.

Square Enix has released the first title update for the PC version of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, known as Patch 1.001, which is 17.7GB in size. The patch improves overall game stability and includes several bug fixes. It updates the DirectStorage DLL for better performance and sets the graphics preset to ‘Low’ for first-time launches on Steam Deck, with saved settings applied on subsequent launches. For PCs with NVIDIA DLSS, the default ‘Anti-Aliasing Method’ is now set to ‘DLSS’. The update does not address shader compilation stutters or low-quality textures and is considered a minor hotfix. A 4K Texture Pack is available for download, enhancing around 1,300 environmental textures. Steam will automatically download this update during the next client launch.
