Cybersecurity experts have reported a significant increase in game-themed malware targeting the gaming community, especially younger players. From April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, there were over 19 million attempts to download malicious files disguised as popular games, affecting around 400,000 individuals globally. Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) was the most targeted game, with nearly 4.5 million attack attempts, followed by Minecraft with 4.1 million, Call of Duty (CoD) with 2.6 million, and The Sims with 2.4 million. Upgrading from Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Pro does not yield significant benefits in gaming performance, compatibility, or features for most gamers. Both editions provide identical gaming performance, supporting the same core gaming technologies such as DirectStorage, Auto HDR, and Game Mode. Windows 11 Home supports up to 128 GB of RAM and one CPU socket with 64 cores, while Windows 11 Pro supports up to 2 TB of RAM and two CPU sockets with 128 cores. Pro includes additional features like BitLocker encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V virtualization, and Group Policy management, which are not typically utilized by gamers. The price of Windows 11 Home is lower than that of Pro, making it a more cost-effective choice for gaming. Both editions meet the hardware requirements for modern gaming, and compatibility with major games and platforms is consistent across both versions.

Utilizing a Windows PC powered by an Arm-based Snapdragon processor has become more similar to traditional Intel or AMD systems due to developers optimizing applications for native performance and Microsoft's advancements in Windows' Prism technology. However, compatibility issues remain, particularly with online multiplayer games that rely on kernel-level anti-cheat software, as Prism cannot translate drivers and foundational Windows software. The small user base for Arm PCs has also discouraged some developers from creating compatible versions of their software. Epic Games plans to enhance support for Arm PCs by introducing its Easy Anti-Cheat software and official support for Fortnite later this year, which will also be available to developers through an Epic Online Services SDK release.

Rockstar Games has updated the Rockstar Games Launcher to enhance Discord's Rich Presence integration across its gaming titles, including the newly released PC version of FiveM. Insider Tez2 noted that while Discord's Rich Presence is being implemented into GTA V, it requires the launcher update for full functionality. The recent update improved the sign-in and sign-out flow and included general enhancements, but did not explicitly mention Discord integration. However, it is expected to be enabled on March 4th, allowing players to share their gaming activities. Confirmed titles for Discord integration include GTA V Enhanced PC, GTA V Legacy PC, GTA Trilogy: The Definitive Edition, Red Dead Redemption, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The update also introduced support for Cfx/FiveM integration, GTA+ subscription, and Xbox App for GTA V (PC Game Pass), reinforcing the possibility of GTA V being available on Xbox’s PC Game Pass. The FiveM integration allows for future connectivity, enabling players to connect through the launcher to FiveM or RedM servers.
