Google Earth AI is set to receive an upgrade this week, integrating advanced capabilities through Gemini technology to enhance understanding of global patterns. A Geospatial Reasoning update is being rolled out for Trusted Testers, allowing complex inquiries using multiple models. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Google Earth, which includes a new time machine feature for Street View and innovative AI tools. The Gemini integration will help researchers identify objects and discern patterns from satellite imagery, with applications such as predicting sandstorms and monitoring drinking water availability. The Geospatial Reasoning technology will enable users to connect various Earth AI models for more complex questions, synthesizing data from weather forecasts, population maps, and satellite imagery. Testing of the new features is available for interested users, particularly those affiliated with relevant research organizations. Google has also introduced AI tools for tracking urban heat and analyzing tree cover, enhancing the utility of Google Earth.
