MLB licenses new downloadable items for use in Minecraft

Major League Baseball (MLB) has partnered with Microsoft to introduce over 40 officially licensed items for the video game Minecraft, targeting its audience of approximately 140 million monthly players. The new downloadable content includes customizable items featuring the logos of all 30 MLB clubs, such as team pennants, wearable jerseys, baseball mitt-shaped chairs, a baseball diamond rug, a functional popcorn machine, and an operable scoreboard. This initiative follows the MLB-backed Home Run Derby game, making baseball the first professional sports league to collaborate with Minecraft. The Chihuahuas are set to play against the Sacramento River Cats at Southwest University Park starting April 22, 2025. The series includes Youth Baseball Night with a pregame parade, a tribute to Jackie Robinson, food and beverage specials from Cazadores, and discounts for military and first responders. Epic Games is offering three free games this week: Arcadegeddon, a cooperative rogue-like shooter developed by IllFonic and launched in 2023, which includes in-game currency; River City Girls, a side-scrolling beat 'em up released in 2019; and Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms, a clicker game inspired by Dungeons and Dragons that includes additional content such as the Lobita the Guardian Familiar pack and 9,760 Platinum.
