Minecraft has won the Still Playing Award for PC and Console at the Golden Joystick Awards 2024. It has sold over 300 million copies since its launch in 2009. Notable nominees for the award included Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, EA Sports FC, Dota 2, Fortnite, GTA Online, Naraka: Bladepoint, Roblox, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, and Warframe. The developers are shifting to a strategy of regular free update "game drops" instead of infrequent major patches.
