Google Play Games is offering Android users a chance to earn Play Points by participating in the Free Fire League competition, which is open until Nov. 23. Gamers earn Play Points for every elimination they achieve in the game.
Google announced a new strategy for Google Play Games PC platform at GDC 2025. The platform will now offer options for "PC Only" and "PC Limited Exclusivity" in addition to traditional "Android to PC" conversions. Developers can earn up to an additional 15% revenue for native PC games and will have easier access to the platform with the new default "opt-in" setting. Google Play Points will offer more booster periods and bonus rewards exclusive to the PC platform.
Google Play Games on PC will transition from beta to general availability later this year, allowing access to a wide range of Android mobile games unless developers opt-out. Google is expanding compatibility to include AMD laptops and desktops, with plans for integration into the start menu of new devices. Upcoming features include multi-account access, multi-instance support, and a revamped game sidebar. Exclusive PC titles like “Game of Thrones: Kingsroad,” “Sonic Rumble,” and “ODIN: VALHALLA RISING” will be introduced. Games will be labeled as “Optimized” or “Playable” based on performance standards. Google Play Points will have improved tracking and bonuses on PC. Enhanced graphics capabilities will be provided through Vulkan technology. On mobile, new titles such as “DREDGE,” “TABS Mobile,” and “Disco Elysium” will be launched, ensuring PC games are optimized for mobile play.
The Google Play Store is set to introduce two new features for Android users:
1. Google Play Points will be displayed on the app listing page, allowing users to see their accumulated points easily. These points can be earned through purchases and redeemed for discounts or Google Play Credit.
2. A warning system will alert users when downloading apps with Wear OS watch faces that haven't been updated to the new Watch Face Format. This alert will only apply to incompatible apps and will not affect those already compliant or devices that launched with Wear OS 5.
The Tokyo Game Show is different from other gaming expos, with a more open layout and emphasis on mobile games. Major Japanese gacha titles were showcased, along with surprising appearances from Western studios. The event featured displays like a life-size statue and a real-life gacha pull. Google Play had a prominent presence with a castle-like display offering a platformer game.
Google Play Points is introducing new rewards for its members, including Super Weekly Prizes for Diamond, Platinum, and Gold members to win prizes such as Pixel devices and Razer gaming products.
