OpenAI has launched the ChatGPT app for Windows, available through the Microsoft Store, mirroring the earlier Mac version. Currently, it is in early release for paid subscribers (Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users), with plans for a wider rollout to free-tier users in the coming weeks or months. The Windows app lacks some features present in the Mac and web versions, including advanced voice modes, integration with Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, and external authentication through GPT Builder. Users can upload files and photos for analysis using the o1 model. The app includes features like the ‘Alt + Space’ shortcut for quick access and remembers its previous screen position upon reopening.

Microsoft has removed the GPT Builder feature from its Copilot Pro subscription service, deleting all existing GPT Builder data. The focus is now on enhancing other AI features within the service, with GPT Builder still available for enterprise customers. Users can subscribe to ChatGPT Plus for customization options or cancel their Copilot Pro subscription if needed. Microsoft has also sent out a survey to gather feedback from Copilot Pro users on their experiences and expectations with the AI service.
