My favorite open-source Android screen mirroring app is now way faster

Scrcpy 5.0 is a lightweight, open-source tool for screen mirroring Android phones to PCs, released by developer Romain Vimont on GitHub. Key features include: - Native hardware-accelerated video decoding, reducing desktop CPU usage by up to 10 times. - Improved input latency due to offloading video decoding to the graphics card. - Enhanced audio capture capabilities, allowing capture of all audio streams. - Official native Windows on ARM64 binaries for Snapdragon-powered laptops. - Bug fixes and refinements, including improved video buffering and resolution of keypress dropping bugs. Hardware decoding is enabled by default, with an option for users to control or disable it. Scrcpy 5.0 follows the previous version's enhancements in flex display handling.

DroidDeck is basically SteamOS on Android without SteamOS

DroidDeck is a new mobile gaming application for Android devices that allows users to access and play their Steam library, mimicking the Steam OS interface. It offers a comprehensive Steam client experience in Big Picture mode and supports various Steam OS functionalities, including desktop mode and the installation of Decky plugins and Linux applications. The installation process is user-friendly but requires users to enable the “disable child-process limit” feature in developer options, which is unavailable on Android 12 or 13. Users need a device with a Snapdragon processor and an Adreno 700 series GPU or higher, excluding many budget and mid-range options. Preliminary tests on the Retroid Pocket G2 showed a familiar interface but noted performance issues and high storage usage, with the app consuming approximately 12GB after installing one sub-1GB game. Gameplay experiences varied, with some titles running at playable speeds while others had inconsistent frame rates. Users may want to keep alternative apps like GameNative installed for better performance and compatibility.

Lemuroid Setup Guide: 20 Retro Systems [2026]

Lemuroid is an open-source Android frontend built on top of the Libretro core ecosystem, maintained by developer Swordfish90. It is distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 and has 4,371 stars, 366 forks, and 595 open issues on GitHub. Late 2026 is a good time to set it up due to its active development. It is available on Google Play, F-Droid, and GitHub, providing redundancy in case of policy changes. Lemuroid supports twenty systems, each mapped to a specific Libretro core. PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Nintendo Switch are not supported. It requires Android 6.0, 500MB of storage, 3GB of RAM for 8-bit and 16-bit systems, and legally dumped ROMs/ISOs. BIOS files are required for PS1, PSP, and DS cores. It is recommended for managing multiple systems in one library.

Nvidia GTX Pascal-era GPUs are now running on Windows XP thanks to modders

Modder SupraGSX has created an unofficial Nvidia driver called ForceWare 382.69 for Windows XP, enabling compatibility with Nvidia's Pascal graphics cards, including the Titan Xp. This driver is based on Nvidia's GeForce 368.69 driver and is designed for 32-bit versions of Windows XP, allowing the use of modern graphics cards like the GTX 1080 Ti and Titan X. It also supports contemporary display standards such as DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 and HDMI 2.0, with successful tests reported on high-refresh-rate monitors. The driver supports Direct3D 9 and OpenGL, but users have reported inconsistent performance and issues with certain functionalities. ForceWare 382.69 is available on GitHub, but installing unofficial drivers carries risks, especially for valuable hardware. Windows XP is not suitable for modern internet use and lacks support for contemporary software.

Enthusiasts want to launch GTA VI on PC immediately after release using a PS5 emulator

PS5 emulation enthusiasts aim to run GTA VI on PC within the first week of its release. The AnyPS5 project has improved its capabilities, with support for system libraries increasing from 77.87% to 78.95% and GPU shader instruction support rising from 81.3% to 87.31%. Over 1,000 shader instructions have been implemented. The community hopes to achieve basic compatibility before GTA VI's launch and plans to attempt running the game shortly after its debut. However, this ambition is community-driven and not guaranteed, as emulating a complex title like GTA VI may present significant challenges.

TITAN Xp Finally Runs on Windows XP Thanks to a Modded NVIDIA Driver

A modder named SupraGSX released an unofficial Windows XP driver on GitHub called Forceware 382.69, designed to support NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 10-series graphics cards, including the TITAN Xp. This driver is a patched version of NVIDIA's older 368.81 driver from July 2016, specifically for 32-bit Windows XP systems. It supports various graphics cards, including GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070 Ti, GTX 1080, GTX 1080 Ti, TITAN X (Pascal), TITAN Xp, and some GTX 900-series and Quadro cards. The driver introduces support for DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 and HDMI 2.0, although not all models were individually validated. The latest build, released on October 4, fixes OpenGL crashes on Pascal cards, verified on the GTX 1080 Ti, while support for GP107 cards, like the GTX 1050 Ti, remains experimental. Users are advised to be cautious when installing unverified drivers on their primary machines.

Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 is crashing some games and apps, promises to fix it in the next update

In October 2026, Microsoft is addressing ongoing issues from its September updates for Windows 11, particularly related to audio decoding. Certain applications and games using Windows' built-in AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio decoding may crash when users adjust volume or audio settings. This issue primarily affects older applications and games, while most modern apps are expected to function normally. Microsoft has issued multiple updates, including a mandatory Patch Tuesday update and an emergency patch, but some audio problems remain unresolved. The September updates also introduced a significant increase in security fixes, addressing 974 vulnerabilities compared to 86 in September 2025. Additionally, an emergency update disrupted the functionality of File History, which Microsoft is investigating. An optional update aimed to fix File History but led to new crashes in various applications. Microsoft is currently working on a resolution for the audio-decoding bug without a specified timeline.
