Rockstar Games is releasing Grand Theft Auto VI, which will have significantly higher hardware demands compared to GTA V, requiring two to three times the processing power. The game will feature advanced visuals, real-time ray tracing, and complex environments. For 1080p gameplay, players will need at least an RTX 3060 or AMD RX 6800 XT. Minimum system requirements are expected to include an Intel Core i5-6600K processor, NVIDIA GTX 1660 graphics card, 12 GB of RAM, and 150 GB of SSD storage. Recommended specs for high-resolution gameplay include an Intel Core i7-10700 CPU, NVIDIA RTX 3060 or RTX 2080 SUPER, and 16 GB of RAM, preferably with NVMe SSDs. Gaming laptops will require at least an RTX 4050 for low settings at 1080p, while an RTX 5070 is recommended for better performance. Multi-core CPUs with at least eight physical cores are necessary to avoid frame drops during intense gameplay. SSDs are mandatory for the game to ensure fast loading and asset streaming, with a total game size of 150 GB.

Rockstar has released the Grand Theft Auto V PC update, named GTA V Enhanced, which replaces the previous version, now called GTA V Legacy. The update has higher system requirements, with minimum specifications including a 64-bit processor, Windows 10, Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD FX-9590, 8 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 or AMD Radeon RX 6400. Recommended specifications include Windows 11, Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT. Progress can only be transferred from the Legacy version once, affecting both Story Mode and GTA Online. New features in the update include ray tracing support, AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS upscaling, faster load times via DirectStorage, enhanced 3D audio with Dolby Atmos, and DualSense controller support. However, HDR display support is not yet implemented, and the NVIDIA App does not recognize the new version. The game runs smoothly at an average of 123 frames per second on high-end rigs without Frame Generation, which may be added in future updates. Players must use the Rockstar Games Launcher regardless of owning the game on Steam or Epic Games Store, complicating DLSS management. A mod is available to assist with DLSS file management during gameplay.

GTA VI is set to be released in late 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no availability for last-generation consoles. The PC version's release date is still unknown, and historically, PC gamers have faced longer waits for Rockstar titles. GTA V had a 19-month delay for its PC launch after its console release, while Red Dead Redemption 2 had a 13-month gap. The only mainline entry to launch simultaneously on PC and consoles was GTA IV in 2008.
