“It just works”: Valve talk the Steam Frame, Android games on SteamOS, and putting a PC on your face

Valve has announced the Steam Frame, a new VR headset that aims to allow users to play as many VR and non-VR games as possible. The headset runs Steam games from its own onboard storage and uses controllers with a more conventional layout. The Frame's ARM-based Snapdragon chip poses challenges and opportunities for compatibility with Android VR games. Valve is working on platform crossover plans to allow Android VR titles on Steam, using an x86-to-ARM emulator called FEX. The Frame will be able to run PC games as well as Android VR games due to its SteamOS platform. Valve is focusing on providing a seamless gaming experience for customers without them having to worry about technical details. The Frame will also support mixed reality with the right third-party hardware additions.

New Hades 2 patch notes deliver buffs, faster progression, and an upgraded ending, with a few extra treats

New patch notes for Hades 2 have been released, marking a significant update that enhances the game's experience by expanding the sequel’s true ending and accelerating unlocks. Patch 1 introduces streamlined progression for Fated Prophecies, buffs to numerous boons and blessings, options to disable low-health flashes, and fixes for frame rate issues. The update includes new events leading to and following the true ending, requiring additional Underworld clears for full content access. Key changes include faster progression for events in the Fated List of Minor Prophecies, reduced costs for decorative items in the Crossroads, lowered requirements for cauldron incantations, and the introduction of the Primordial Chaos theme in the Music Maker. Players will find it easier to acquire duo boons, with the Favor boon from Chaos increasing their appearance rate, and the Yarn of Ariadne boosting this chance. The option to disable persistent 'danger pulse' flashes and limit maximum frame rate when VSync is off has also been added. The patch is now live, and players are encouraged to provide feedback, especially regarding changes to the ending.

Vela decided to eliminate matchmaking and multiplayer features, reducing the experience to a solitary adventure, which disappointed many fans. The developer expressed that they could not sustain the game due to early negative reviews and limited resources.

The first Hades 2 patch gives us exactly what we wanted: a new ending

Many players have spent significant time on Hades 2 during its early access and post-launch phases but have not yet discovered the true ending. Supergiant Games has released a substantial post-launch patch that addresses community feedback, particularly regarding the true ending, which players have described as “unsatisfying” and “rushed.” The patch introduces new events before and after the conclusion, along with additional artwork, portraits, and voice lines. Players will need to achieve more Underworld clears to access the true ending, which has been revised to provide a more gratifying finale. The patch also includes balance tweaks, with eleven boons and blessings buffed and one nerfed. Patch 1 is currently available for preview in beta, with no announced full release date for the complete patch.
