The game is developed by Konami with support from Virtuos and features the original storyline centered around the Virtuous Mission in the 1960s. The gameplay remains largely unchanged, with enhancements such as a new over-the-shoulder camera angle and modern controls. The visuals are powered by Unreal Engine 5, offering a blend of realism and anime influences. The audio includes the return of David Hayter for voice-over work, but some original recordings remain. Metal Gear Solid 5 continues to spark discussions about its release, including questions about Konami's relationship with Hideo Kojima, Kojima's creative ambitions, and the decision to replace David Hayter with Kiefer Sutherland as the voice of Snake. Hayter, who initially found MGS5 humiliating, has since enjoyed the game. The series is seeing a revival with projects like the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol 1 and the remake MGS Delta.
