4A Games’ Ukrainian arm rebrands as Reburn

The Ukrainian branch of Metro developer 4A Games has rebranded as Reburn and is developing a new sci-fi narrative-driven shooter titled La Quimera, which will be self-published. Founded in Kyiv in 2006, 4A Games gained recognition for the Metro series and relocated to Malta in 2014 due to geopolitical issues. CEO Dmytro Lymar explained that the rebranding allows the studio to create a new brand for the new intellectual property while retaining the trademark for the Metro series. The name Reburn signifies renewal and rebirth. 4A Games clarified that the overall company has not undergone a rebranding and that the original team continues to work on the next Metro game.

PostgreSQL SQL Injection Vulnerability (CVE-2025-1094)

NSFOCUS CERT has identified a significant SQL injection vulnerability in PostgreSQL, designated as CVE-2025-1094, with a CVSS score of 8.1. This vulnerability is due to the psql tool's handling of invalid UTF-8 characters, allowing unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code through the PostgreSQL interactive terminal. Affected versions include PostgreSQL 17 and 13.19. Users can check if their version is affected by executing a specific SQL query. A new version has been released to address this vulnerability, and users are encouraged to upgrade. Temporary mitigation measures include verifying UTF-8 encoding, avoiding dynamic SQL, and restricting access permissions to the psql tool.

And finally… Minecraft goes green

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), in collaboration with WSP and Gleeds, has launched an educational program for primary school students at Portway School in Plaistow, London. The initiative, named “Greening Our Cities,” involves 24 Year 5 students participating in an after-school club that teaches urban sustainability and professional skills through Minecraft Education. Students followed the RIBA Plan of Work to plan and execute their projects, conducting stakeholder interviews and developing mind maps. The program concluded with a competitive showcase at RICS Headquarters on January 20, 2025, where the top three teams received book vouchers. The initiative aims to engage young learners in surveying, project management, and digital innovation while addressing the skills gap in the construction industry.

Berkeley Twp Man Used Kik Messaging App To Send, Receive Child Porn: Prosecutor

Mario Calabrese, a resident of Berkeley Township, is under investigation for the distribution and possession of child pornography. He was reportedly sending and receiving illicit images through a KiK Messenger account. A court-authorized search warrant was executed at his residence on February 13, where forensic experts confirmed the presence of the Kik Messenger app on his devices. Calabrese was arrested without incident and faces charges of possession and two counts of distribution of child pornography. He is currently held at the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
