Windows 11 God Mode is a folder that provides a searchable interface for every Control Panel setting, making it a useful tool for users. Despite the introduction of the new Settings app in Windows 11, many settings still redirect users back to the Control Panel, indicating that the transition to a unified interface is incomplete as of March 2026. Users often find themselves navigating through multiple pages in Settings to access certain features that remain in the legacy Control Panel. God Mode simplifies this process by allowing users to quickly find settings without navigating through various menus. To set up God Mode, users can create a new folder on their desktop and rename it to a specific string, which transforms it into a Control Panel icon. This setup works for both Windows 11 Home and Pro without requiring administrative rights.

Windows 11's Start menu, which began rolling out in November 2025, features a larger design with a structured layout that includes a Pinned section for favorite apps, a Recommended section for Microsoft suggestions, and an All section for installed applications. The Phone Link integration allows access to smartphone content directly from the Start menu. Users can customize the layout by organizing apps by category or alphabetically. However, some users criticize the menu for occupying too much screen space, having fixed dimensions, and prioritizing Microsoft's content in the Recommended section, which complicates personalization. Feedback suggests a preference for a simpler, more straightforward Start menu similar to Windows 7.

Windows 11 is set to introduce native video wallpaper support in late 2025, currently available in testing builds for Windows Insiders, supporting formats like MP4, MKV, and WebM. Users can access animated wallpapers through third-party applications, with Lively Wallpaper being a recommended free option that supports various formats and features. Wallpaper Engine is a paid alternative known for its extensive library and interactive wallpapers. VLC Media Player can also set videos as wallpapers, but it has limitations such as requiring constant operation and higher resource usage. Animated wallpapers generally consume more battery and system resources, but modern applications include features to mitigate these impacts. Users are advised to download wallpapers from trusted sources to ensure safety.

Percona introduced an open-source Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) extension for its PostgreSQL distribution at KubeCon+CloudNativeCon North America, addressing the demand for data protection solutions, particularly among financial institutions concerned about vendor lock-in. The TDE extension, named pg_tde, operates transparently, allowing users to input and query data without changes to interactions or schemas, while unauthorized access reveals only encrypted information. It supports all major key management services and is included in Percona's PostgreSQL distribution without additional licensing fees. The TDE solution helps organizations comply with standards like GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, and PCI DSS v4.0, offering benefits such as open-source readiness, stronger data protection, user-controlled encryption, seamless integration, centralized key management, effortless online encryption, and trusted support.
