The author apologizes to Yuya Tokuda, the director of Monster Hunter Wilds, for not using the weapon swap feature despite playing the game for over 100 hours. The game has received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 and is considered one of the year's best, but it has inconsistencies that affect player experience. Capcom has struggled with defining a clear direction for the game, particularly with the PC port facing performance issues. The difficulty of new quests varies significantly, leading to a lack of consistent challenge. Changes to the armor system have resulted in more powerful loadouts, but the introduction of tougher monsters may have been an overcorrection. The author's enthusiasm for Artian weapons has diminished, viewing them as tedious and detrimental to the crafting experience, suggesting they should be removed or made cosmetic.

The Material Retrieval mechanic in Monster Hunter Wilds becomes available after reaching High Rank and completing the main storyline. Players can unlock it by completing specific sidequests, with the first two being "Beware the Gypceros" and "Aida's Apprehensions." Villagers in the Forbidden Lands assist players by gathering essential items. Resting in a tent refreshes the items collected by villagers, and setting them to gather 'Any' provides a variety of items. The Gathering Boost mechanic is activated by helping a settlement in distress, allowing item gatherers to collect resources at an accelerated rate and enhancing item trading limits in the region.

Fucium Ore is essential for crafting advanced weaponry in Monster Hunter Wilds and is exclusive to the High Rank tier. It can be obtained by mining outcrops in the Ruins of Wyveria after reaching High Rank, which occurs after completing the main storyline and defeating the Yian Kut-Ku. The mining outcrops are somewhat limited, with locations near the entrance to Sild village, area 1, area 5, and area 8. Players can wait for outcrops to respawn or spend 300 Guild Points to reset them. Fucium Ore is not particularly rare, and its demand for crafting is not excessively high.
