Lego unveiled a new city builder game titled Lego Skylines at Gamescom. The early gameplay preview lasted about 35 minutes, allowing players to construct a small neighborhood with a maximum population of around 50 residents. The game features whimsical animations for building and demolishing structures, vibrant visuals, and customization options for enhancing resident happiness through decorations. Players can complete quests to engage with the community and unlock new building types. Resource management involves constructing farms and factories to create supply chains, with a playful aesthetic evident in the design of buildings like a bread factory resembling a giant toaster. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is an RTS game set to release in 2027, inspired by HBO's series. The game revisits the struggle for the Iron Throne, allowing players to command characters like Kit Harington's Jon Snow and listen to narration by Charles Dance. Gameplay involves constructing buildings, generating resources, training troops, and capturing territories, but it primarily features standard infantry units like spearmen and swordsmen. Only two factions, the Starks and Lannisters, are available in the preview, with the Starks able to deploy direwolves and the Lannisters focusing on economic strategies. The game lacks the excitement and complexity found in other RTS titles, feeling straightforward and uninspired, with gameplay that does not leverage the source material's strengths.

A new strain of Android malware has emerged, targeting automotive head units responsible for infotainment, connectivity, and navigation in vehicles. Discovered by Kaspersky in June, this is the first documented instance of malware affecting car head units, specifically within the firmware updaters of Android-based software developed by DoFun, a Hong Kong company. The malware, disguised as an application called JarService, infiltrates devices without user awareness. It is delivered through a legitimate system application called TWCore, which collects analytics and updates software. The malware aims to convert the head unit into a botnet, equipped with commands to download and execute code and display advertisements, potentially for online ad fraud. Kaspersky notified DoFun, which addressed the vulnerabilities, and noted similarities between this malware and a previous threat called BadBox, which affected various Android devices.
