Indie game developer Kodino Artee, in collaboration with publisher Digital Tribe, has announced a new project titled Concierge, set to launch on PC via Steam in September. This surreal horror puzzle game features an elderly man navigating a desolate hotel while grappling with his identity. Players awaken without memory or voice, guided by a cryptic concierge and an antiquated camcorder called the Parasonik. The game offers a nonlinear narrative with six distinct game worlds, each presenting unique mechanics and unsettling puzzles. Players must uncover secrets without guidance, using the Parasonik to reveal phantoms and solve illusions. The game's aesthetic blends melancholy with lo-fi analog horror, creating a sense of psychological decay. Players are encouraged to learn mechanics intuitively, as mastery leads to deeper understanding within its complex environment.

On June 10, the Russian State Duma approved the establishment of a national messenger to be pre-installed on all newly sold smart devices starting September 1. This app will include a digital ID system and aims to streamline access to government services, identity verification, contract signing, and banking transactions. The initiative is inspired by China's WeChat but raises concerns about surveillance and data storage by the Russian government. The specific application for the national messenger has not yet been finalized, with Max, developed by VKontakte, being a leading candidate. Legal expert Sarkis Darbinyan doubts that Max will attract WhatsApp's user base and predicts it will be limited to domestic use without end-to-end encryption. Despite these issues, State Duma IT Committee head Sergei Boyarsky believes that existing messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram will continue to operate if they comply with Russian laws.

Threat actors are using a fileless variant of AsyncRAT, targeting German-speaking individuals with a deceptive verification prompt. This prompt misleads users into executing harmful commands. The malware employs obfuscated PowerShell scripts to operate in memory without creating files on disk, complicating detection by antivirus solutions. The attack begins with a fake verification page prompting users to click "I’m not a robot," which copies a malicious command to the clipboard. This command uses conhost.exe to run a hidden PowerShell instance that retrieves a payload from a remote server. The malware establishes a connection to a command-and-control server and maintains persistence through registry keys, enabling remote control and data exfiltration. Key tactics include stealth execution, in-memory C# compilation, and TCP-based communication over non-standard ports. The campaign has been active since at least April 2025. Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) include: - IP: 109.250.111[.]155 (Clickfix Delivery) - FQDN: namoet[.]de (Clickfix / C2 Server) - Port: 4444 (TCP Reverse Shell Listener) - URL: hxxp[:]//namoet[.]de:80/x (PowerShell Payload) - Registry (HKCU): SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunOncewindows (Persistence on Boot) - Registry (HKCU): SOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindowswin (Holds Obfuscated Command)

The end of support for Windows 10 is set for October 14, 2025, after which users will not receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support, exposing them to cyber threats. Many legacy PCs do not meet the system requirements for Windows 11, leading to potential compatibility issues and performance problems if upgraded. Investing in a new Windows 11-compatible PC ensures better performance, energy efficiency, and long-term support, with built-in security features like TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. Transitioning to Windows 11 offers advantages such as an improved user interface, integrated AI tools, enhanced default apps, personalizable workspaces, and better visuals. Continuing to use an unsupported Windows platform after 2025 can result in compliance issues, data loss, and increased maintenance costs. Replacing hardware rather than upgrading can mitigate these risks and ensure access to ongoing security features.

Halo Infinite remains active in 2025, with new content from Halo Studios, including battle passes, weapons, and community-driven map packs. A recent event celebrating Halo 3 features the return of iconic armor sets and remakes of eleven classic maps in a special playlist. The new mode eliminates sprinting and clambering, reintroduces player collision, and enhances jump height, fostering a slower, more strategic gameplay experience. Players must master movement without the automatic ledge-catching feature, rediscovering techniques like crouch-jumping. The game starts with an SMG, emphasizing strategic depth and encouraging players to reconsider their weapon choices. This shift raises questions about the franchise's direction and highlights the potential benefits of returning to classic mechanics.

The proliferation of social media misinformation, deep fakes, and sophisticated phishing attacks has made online safety challenging. Many individuals hold outdated beliefs about cybersecurity, such as the myth that Macs are immune to viruses and that caution alone can replace antivirus software. Regardless of the operating system, using a robust antivirus program is recommended, as built-in security features are not foolproof. Third-party antivirus software can provide additional functionalities like parental controls and VPN services, but they are not a complete safety net. Users must remain vigilant and practice good cybersecurity hygiene, including regular scans, strong passwords, and recognizing phishing attempts. Modern antivirus programs have become more user-friendly and less resource-intensive. Some malware can operate stealthily, making detection difficult, which emphasizes the need for regular scans and monitoring personal accounts for unusual activity. Antivirus protection should extend to mobile devices as well, as they are also vulnerable to cyber threats. Users should check if their antivirus program covers mobile devices and familiarize themselves with security settings on their smartphones.

Apple announced a visual redesign called Liquid Glass, set to debut with macOS 26 Tahoe. This design features transparency effects in context and dropdown menus, system controls, and the Control Center, where elements exhibit a glass-like quality. The dock allows icons to have varying translucency, with options for classic, dark, clear, or tinted versions. However, some inconsistencies exist in the beta version, such as tinted icons lacking transparency. The glass effects are present in many of Apple's apps, with navigation panes on a glass-like surface and floating menu buttons that are translucent. In comparison, Windows Vista's Aero Glass was noted for its impactful use of transparency in title bars and window borders, creating a sense of depth and enhancing user experience. Although Apple's Liquid Glass is meticulously designed, it may come across as too subtle compared to the more pronounced Aero Glass effects. The impressions of macOS 26 Tahoe are based on the initial developer beta, and improvements are expected before its public release later this fall.
