Google is enhancing its Gemini app on Android by introducing a navigation drawer, similar to its web version. This update includes a hamburger button that reveals the drawer, featuring a "New chat" button, two recent Gems, and a link to "Explore Gems." The "Recent" history list now supports infinite scrolling, and pinned conversations are prioritized at the top. The navigation drawer can be accessed while viewing conversations or browsing other pages, sliding the main screen to the right. On Android tablets, the drawer opens automatically but can be hidden for a fullscreen experience. This feature is part of Google app version 16.23, currently in beta, and users may need to force stop the app to access the new features.

At Unreal Fest in Orlando, Epic Games showcased new features for Unreal Engine 5 through a tech demo of CD Projekt Red's Witcher 4 and hosted training sessions for developers. Key topics included shader compilation stutters and performance issues in Unreal Engine games, with a focus on optimization methodologies rather than the engine itself. Insights revealed persistent performance optimization challenges, particularly with shader compilation and traversal stutters. Developers were encouraged to implement PSO precaching in Unreal Engine 5.2 or newer, although neither solution is perfect. Obsidian's game Avowed began development in Unreal Engine 4 before transitioning to version 5.3.2, while aiming for specific frame rates on Xbox Series S and X. The team size for Avowed was 140, with only 15 in technical roles, which may have limited their ability to fully utilize new features. Unreal Engine 5.6 offers performance enhancements that require strategic implementation by developers. Attendance at Epic's sessions was high, indicating a growing awareness of performance issues among developers. The hope is that future titles will leverage the latest engine version to address these challenges effectively.

In late 2023, Hello Games announced its new project, Light No Fire, a fantasy adventure game expected to offer a vast, immersive world similar in size to Earth. Since the announcement, updates have been sparse, leading to community frustration and speculation on platforms like Reddit. Fans have expressed their disappointment over the lack of news, especially during events like the Summer Games Fest 2025. The studio's cautious communication approach stems from its past experience with No Man's Sky, which initially failed to meet expectations but later improved significantly. A dedicated page exists summarizing all known details about Light No Fire, but information remains limited.

Windows 11 has received mixed reviews, with some users expressing dissatisfaction as the mandatory upgrade deadline approaches on October 14, 2025. A user who switched to Fedora described Windows 11 as “pure horror,” citing issues with privacy, bloat, performance, bugs, and UI/UX. The Start Menu has become frustrating for some, leading to abandonment of the OS, although it is still used in professional settings. Brandon LeBlanc from Microsoft acknowledged the user's feedback and expressed hope for their return. Microsoft has made improvements based on user feedback, including refining features and enhancing the Settings app. Recent updates introduced a toggle to disable the Recommended feed in the Start menu and a redesigned layout for applications. However, users still have concerns about strict hardware requirements, performance issues, and aggressive promotion of Edge and Bing. Many find the inability to move the taskbar particularly frustrating.

Windows 11 was released in October 2021 and initially received a score of 6.5/10 due to its focus on aesthetics over functionality. The author currently uses both Windows 10 and Windows 11, with Windows 10 on their personal laptop and Windows 11 on their work laptop. They have been using Windows 11 for six months but still prefer Windows 10 for its familiarity. While Windows 11 has introduced features like enhanced virtual desktops, improved Microsoft Teams integration, a refined taskbar, and new widgets, these changes do not significantly impact the author's daily tasks. The author would consider switching to Windows 11 if it offered enhancements that directly improve their workflow, particularly with meaningful integration of Teams or AI-driven productivity features. The end of life for Windows 10 is approaching, prompting users to decide whether to upgrade to Windows 11 or explore alternatives. Microsoft is trying to encourage upgrades, but many users remain on Windows 10, which is still the most widely used operating system.
