Diablo 4's fifth season introduces a new mode called Infernal Hordes, where players can face timed waves of enemies in the Realm of Hatred using the Infernal Compass. Defeating enemies will drop burning aether to acquire "Boons & Banes" for gameplay enhancement. Players who navigate through waves will encounter the Fell Council minibosses and gain access to Spoils of Hell for rewards. Infernal Compasses can be upgraded to unlock higher tiers of challenges for better rewards. Season 5 will also feature quality of life improvements for endgame bosses, Helltides, Whispers, loot, treasure goblins, and weapon usability for different classes.
