Halo: Campaign Evolved – The Brand New Features in This Remake of A Classic

Halo: Campaign Evolved introduces significant enhancements to the original Halo: Combat Evolved, including Operation: METEORITE, which features three new bonus missions set a year before the main campaign, focusing on the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. The game allows up to four players to experience the campaign together online with cross-platform play, scaling weapon spawns and adjusting levels for larger squads. Familiar collectible Skulls have been relocated, and new ones with unique gameplay modifiers have been added. Collecting three Skulls unlocks the Campaign Remix mode, which introduces new gameplay twists and visual effects. Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to launch globally on July 28, 2026, with early access for Premium Edition owners, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and cloud, supporting cross-play and cross-progression.

X finally ships its rebuilt Android app

X has launched a revamped version of its Android app, a project that began nearly a year ago in response to user feedback about bugs and performance issues. The initiative was first mentioned in August 2025 when Nikita Bier, the Head of Product, sought to create the "Android Dream Team." On July 20, Bier announced the completion of the rebuild, describing it as one of the largest engineering efforts in the company's history. The new app is faster, smoother, and more reliable, with a modernized foundation that will facilitate quicker feature rollouts in the future. Although the update does not introduce new user-facing features, it focuses on performance enhancements, including improvements to scrolling, loading, and notifications. Future updates are promised to include additional functionalities, such as better support for hosting Spaces and improved performance on older devices.

The 200GB catch hiding in Windows 11’s new recovery feature

Microsoft has introduced point-in-time restore for Windows 11 users, enhancing the traditional System Restore. This new recovery tool allows users to recover their PCs from software issues, problematic drivers, or faulty updates, even when Windows won’t boot. It uses the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to automatically generate restore points every 24 hours, which include both system and user files, unlike System Restore. Point-in-time restore manages storage by deleting restore points after 72 hours and integrates seamlessly into Windows Settings, being activated by default for volumes over 200GB. Users with smaller volumes must activate it manually. It also incorporates Reserved Storage to ensure restore points do not consume regular disk space. The feature is available on Windows 11 Home and Pro editions with the installation of the optional Preview Update KB5095093. Users can access point-in-time restore through Windows Settings under System > Recovery, and initiate recovery via the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE).
