Microsoft has released new features in its latest Insider builds, including a revamped profanity filter for voice typing in the Windows 11 Beta Insider build (26120.3941). Users can activate voice typing with the WIN+H shortcut, and the voice recognition capabilities are similar to those on smartphones. Users can choose to replace swear words with a "bleep" effect or allow them to be included. Additional features include Recall and Click-to-Do, which can be launched with a Bluetooth pen, allowing users to access frequently used functions related to files or applications. A new privacy feature enables users on work or school accounts to restrict Windows Search from accessing personal photos, enhancing security for sensitive content.

Windows 11 has reintroduced the clock feature in the Calendar flyout, which was removed in a previous update. This feature is currently available only to users on Insider build 22635.5240 (23H2) within the Beta Channel, and is not accessible to those on stable versions of Windows 11. Microsoft is enhancing the Start menu and taskbar in Windows 11, with the latest Insider Preview Beta featuring resizable taskbar icons that can shrink or remain small based on user preferences. Beta participants can adjust settings under Taskbar settings > Taskbar behaviors, with options to show smaller taskbar buttons as Always, Never, or When taskbar is full. Additionally, the Start menu update allows for a larger layout, enabling users to hide recommended recent apps and display all installed applications. Users updating to this Insider Build may temporarily lose battery charge status icons, which will be reinstated later.

Microsoft is changing the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) to a Black Screen of Death (BSOD) in the upcoming Windows 11 24H2 update. This change is currently being tested in the Beta, Dev, and Canary channels. The new message during a crash will state, “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart,” along with an error code for troubleshooting. A temporary Green Screen of Death (GSOD) was introduced in recent Insider builds, but the stable release will feature the Black screen. This change aims to modernize Windows' error messaging. Users in the Insider program can test the new feature with build 26120.3653 by triggering a BSOD.

Microsoft is introducing a new tool called Quick Machine Recovery (QMR) to address boot-up issues in Windows PCs, currently available for testing in the latest Windows 11 Insider build. QMR, designed for both IT administrators and home users, automates the recovery process by entering the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) when a critical boot-up error occurs. The PC will connect to the internet, send diagnostic data to Microsoft, and receive a tailored fix via Windows Update, allowing it to boot normally without further user intervention. QMR is part of Microsoft's Windows Resiliency Initiative and aims to simplify the recovery process for users.
