Additionally, Microsoft has minimized forced restarts due to updates, requiring users to restart their PCs only once a month, and introduced an option to pause updates for an extended period. The August 27 optional update also improved sleep behavior during updates, ensuring that manually put-to-sleep PCs return to sleep after completing an update.

Windows 11’s August update broke Teams and Outlook on Arm PCs

Microsoft has identified an issue affecting Microsoft Teams and the new Outlook for Windows on Arm-based devices, such as the Surface Pro 11 and Surface Laptop 7, following the installation of Windows security updates released on or after August 11, 2026, specifically the KB5121003 update. The affected Windows 11 versions include 24H2, 25H2, and 26H1, causing these applications to fail to launch or close unexpectedly, while classic applications like Outlook, Word, and Excel remain unaffected. The issue is more prevalent on new or freshly imaged PCs that have not received updates from the Microsoft Store. Microsoft is working on a solution to be included in a future Windows update. Microsoft Will Bring Memory Integrity Protection to More Windows 11 PCs in October

Microsoft is expanding the memory integrity protection feature in Windows 11, starting in October. This enhancement aims to strengthen security at the kernel level against sophisticated attacks. Memory integrity protection operates in the background with minimal user configuration. It utilizes Virtualization-based Security (VBS) to create isolated virtual environments for added protection. The system can install security hotpatches without requiring a hard restart, beneficial for critical environments. Large organizations will automatically benefit from this enhancement, while devices with memory integrity disabled will not have it activated automatically.
