India's cybercrime authorities have warned about the misuse of dating and adult-themed advertisements on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, which are being exploited by criminals to distribute malicious Android applications. These ads redirect users to external websites where they are prompted to download APK files, bypassing security measures of trusted app stores. The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) has identified several malicious applications, including Night Play, Reloop, Kyss, Vimo, Rivo, Nexo, and Vixa, and cautions against installing unfamiliar applications promoted through unsolicited ads. These apps may request sensitive permissions, such as access to SMS messages, contacts, photos, device storage, and Accessibility Services, which can allow fraudsters to access valuable information. Compromised devices can lead to financial fraud by intercepting OTPs and other verification details. The I4C recommends using trusted app stores, keeping Google Play Protect active, reviewing app permissions, and being cautious with social media ads. If a suspicious app is installed, users should restart their phone in Safe Mode to uninstall it, disable its permissions if necessary, and consider a factory reset if removal fails. Users who suspect fraud are encouraged to report incidents promptly.

Microsoft integrated games into the Windows operating system from its early versions, starting with Reversi in Windows 1.0 in 1985 and introducing Solitaire in Windows 3.0 in 1990. Over the years, various versions of Windows included a range of built-in games, peaking with Windows Vista and Windows 7, which featured titles like Chess Titans and Mahjong Titans. However, with the release of Windows 8, Microsoft removed classic games from the operating system and transitioned to an app-centric model, directing users to the Windows Store for gaming. The Microsoft Solitaire Collection became a single app, while other games were made available as separate downloads. This shift marked a change in how Microsoft approached gaming, moving from integrating games as part of the OS to treating Windows as a platform for independent applications and services.

Windows 11's privacy settings have caused confusion among users regarding the Text and image generation feature, leading to misconceptions that AI processes are actively running and draining system resources. Screenshots showing "zero" requests in the Recent activity section indicate that these features are not consuming RAM. The privacy page is intended to inform users about which applications can use on-device generative AI models, but it does not imply that these applications are currently using AI. The processing occurs on a specialized chip, ensuring that it does not burden the CPU, GPU, or standard RAM. Users can disable the feature by navigating to Settings > Privacy & security > Text and image generation. The terminology used in the operating system has contributed to misunderstandings, and the setting was enabled by default, which has led to skepticism among users due to Microsoft's history of implementing features without clear communication.

These changes primarily affect managed PCs, and IT administrators are advised to inform users. Additionally, users are cautioned about the Windows 11 update KB5120998 due to issues like broken cursor styling and reset wallpaper settings, with some users successfully resolving problems by uninstalling the update.
