Microsoft has discontinued Windows 11 SE, creating a gap in its educational technology offerings. Windows 11 Education, while robust, poses challenges for budget-conscious institutions due to its higher costs, lack of artificial restrictions, and lack of optimization for lower-spec devices. Consequently, Microsoft lacks a dedicated operating system for low-cost educational devices, allowing alternatives like Chrome OS and iPadOS to thrive in this market niche.

Cyberpunk 2077 has launched on macOS after over four years since its initial release on PCs and consoles, coinciding with patch 2.3. ComputerBase has initiated a community benchmarking effort to evaluate the game's performance on various Mac and MacBook models, following previous benchmarks in 2022. Participants are to test three presets (Medium, Ultra, Ray Tracing Medium) at resolutions of 1920 x 1200 and 2560 x 1600, with specific settings outlined for the benchmarks. The game is compatible with Apple M chips but is unsupported on iPadOS devices, even those with 16GB of memory. There is hope that CD Projekt Red and Apple may reconsider this limitation in the future.

Google has announced plans to merge its operating systems, ChromeOS and Android, into a single platform. This decision was confirmed by Sameer Samat, President of Google’s Android Ecosystem, during an interview. The merger is seen as a response to Apple's iPad and its iPadOS, as Google has struggled in the high-end tablet market. In 2024, Google began integrating Android technology into ChromeOS, introducing desktop features to Android. The company is reportedly starting a multi-year initiative to integrate ChromeOS functions into Android, with a new Pixel Laptop expected to launch alongside the merged operating system. There are concerns about transitioning existing Chromebooks, which use x86 processors, to an Android-focused system that favors Arm architecture.
