The BBC is sunsetting its iPlayer Downloads app on PCs and Macs by 2024 due to declining usage and high costs. Devices affected by the closure include Windows 10, Windows 11, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBooks. The ability to download new programs ceased on March 11, with a full cessation of the app on PCs and Macs taking place on April 8. Mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, will remain unaffected by the transition, allowing users to continue downloading shows for offline viewing.
