‘Minecraft’ pop-up event coming to Alton Towers this summer

Merlin Entertainments is enhancing its partnership with Minecraft by launching the 'Minecraft Meet the Mobs' pop-up experience at Alton Towers from July 18 to August 28. This event allows guests to interact with baby mobs in six Minecraft-themed scenes and includes activities like a mob trail for exclusive in-game rewards. Guests can also take photos with characters such as Iron Golem and Creeper, and enjoy themed snacks and merchandise. The experience is included with standard park admission. Minecraft is the best-selling video game of all time, with over 350 million copies sold, and is set to become the first-ever theme park land at Chessington World of Adventures in a £50 million project opening in 2027. Merlin's collaboration with Mojang Studios was announced in 2024, with plans to invest over £85 million in new attractions in the UK and US.

An AI VTuber Is Trying To Complete Hardcore Minecraft, And All Hell Is Breaking Loose

The AI VTuber Neuro-Sama, created by streamer Vedal987, is attempting to conquer Minecraft Hardcore mode, which features permadeath. She collaborates with fellow VTubers Crelly and Filian, aiming to defeat the Ender Dragon. Neuro's gameplay has been marked by impulsive decisions leading to frequent resets and amusing blunders, including reckless encounters with mobs and environmental hazards. Notable incidents include her falling into lava while building a bridge and attacking a Villager, which provoked an Iron Golem's attack. Crelly, acting as Neuro's caretaker, has expressed frustration over the AI's repeated mistakes. As of attempt number 83, Neuro has died 47 times, while her teammates have recorded 14, 13, and 10 deaths respectively. The team plans to resume their attempts on December 8.
