Microsoft has resolved an issue that affected the delivery of Windows 11 24H2 feature updates via Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) after the installation of the April 2025 security updates. Users reported upgrade problems, specifically encountering error code 0x80240069 during attempts to update from Windows 11 23H2 or 22H2. The update complications primarily impact enterprise environments using WSUS, while home users are less likely to experience these issues. Microsoft is rolling out a fix through Known Issue Rollback (KIR) for enterprise-managed devices, requiring IT administrators to implement the KIR Group Policy on affected endpoints. Additionally, Microsoft is addressing a separate issue where some PCs were upgraded to Windows 11 despite Intune policies preventing such upgrades.

Google is set to introduce a security feature called "Intrusion Detection" in its upcoming Android 16, aimed at enhancing user security against threats. This feature, found in a beta version of the Google Play Services app, will log encrypted entries of essential device information to help users identify suspicious activity. "Intrusion Detection" is expected to be part of the Advanced Protection Program, which includes measures against malicious downloads and supports passkey sign-ins, moving away from traditional passwords. The feature's development has progressed, but it is unclear if it will launch with Android 16 or later. Android 16 Beta 4 was released to testers in mid-April, leading up to the anticipated full launch in May 2025.

Microsoft has begun the final rollout phase for the Windows 11 24H2 update, which is now being automatically deployed to consumers. Users on Windows 11 Home or Pro versions 23H2, 22H2, and 21H2, not managed by IT departments, will receive the update automatically unless a safeguard hold is in place due to potential issues. Notifications will be sent via Windows Update when the update is downloading and ready for installation. Users can postpone the update but cannot decline it entirely.

Many users of Windows 11 will receive an automatic upgrade to version 24H2, confirmed by Microsoft. Devices running the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 (versions 23H2, 22H2, and 21H2) will receive this update without IT management intervention. The rollout began recently and will extend to users of Windows 10 and 11, unless hindered by compatibility issues. Users can manually check for the update through Settings > Windows Update. As of April, Windows 11's market share was 43.72%, compared to 52.94% for Windows 10, with the end of support for Windows 10 set for October 14, 2025. Microsoft is encouraging users to transition to Windows 11 through ads and popups.

Windows 11 has received both praise and criticism, particularly regarding certain regressions compared to previous versions. ExplorerPatcher is a free tool that restores familiar features from Windows 10, such as the Start menu and taskbar. It allows users to revert to the Windows 10 Start menu, which is more efficient and includes a resizable pinned area and an All apps list. The taskbar is also transformed to resemble Windows 10, offering individual icons for functions and expanded customization options. Additionally, ExplorerPatcher revives the Ribbon UI in File Explorer, enhancing usability despite the loss of tab support. However, users may experience occasional bugs, and the last update was in November 2024, raising concerns about ongoing support.
