We got Googlebook’s text editor app to run on Android, and it looks great

Googlebooks have officially started pre-orders ahead of their launch on October 4. The new laptop range includes a feature called Continue On, which facilitates seamless transitions between a Googlebook and a smartphone. An early preview of the Text app, a dedicated text editor available on the Google Play Store, shows it supports various programming languages and offers syntax highlighting. The app adapts well to different screen sizes, features a tab-based layout for managing multiple projects, and includes conventional tools like find and replace. While other text editor options will be available, the native Text app is specifically designed for Googlebooks. There are currently no plans to extend this app to other Android devices.

Time-loop horror action adventure game Noroi Ayashi: The ∞th Oddity announced for Switch 2, Switch, and PC

Game Source Entertainment, in collaboration with SuperNiche and Clover Lab, is set to release a game titled Noroi Ayashi: The ∞th Oddity in 2027. It is a "time-loop horror RTA stealth action adventure" available on Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam, supporting English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. The protagonist, Seira, explores her school at night, facing seven mysteries and the curse of a doll named Aya. The narrative is told through Yuriko, a member of the U High School News Club, who investigates the urban legend of the Cursed Doll Aya. Key characters include Seira, Hime, and Tae, each with distinct traits and backgrounds. Gameplay involves navigating the school, avoiding and sealing the Seven Mysteries, and learning from repeated deaths to develop survival strategies. The development team includes Rensuke Oshikiri, known for his work in manga, and Sohei Niikawa, a former Nippon Ichi Software contributor. An announcement trailer has been released.

Four REVSTEALER-Linked Modules Disable Windows Update and Defender to Run a Crypto Miner

Elastic Security Labs has identified four previously undocumented programs associated with REVSTEALER, a Windows information stealer that persists on infected machines after self-deletion. The programs are ProManager, WinUpdate, SoftManager, and LockAppHost, each with distinct functionalities. ProManager steals wallet files and logs passwords, WinUpdate monitors the clipboard for cryptocurrency addresses, SoftManager acts as a reverse proxy, and LockAppHost executes a cryptocurrency miner after disabling Windows Update and Microsoft Defender. REVSTEALER has been marketed as a commercial infostealer since February 2026, exfiltrating sensitive data such as browser passwords, cookies, and cryptocurrency wallet information. It deletes itself after reporting its activities but leaves the four programs installed for persistence. These programs share build tradecraft with REVSTEALER, including the use of identical packers and runtime function resolutions. REVSTEALER primarily spreads through game-cheat lures and disguises itself as pirated software. It employs evasion techniques to resist analysis, including checking for sandbox environments and using indirect system calls. Users are advised to avoid unofficial software and to follow specific steps if infected, such as re-enabling Windows Update services and changing passwords. Indicators of compromise include SHA-256 hashes for REVSTEALER and its associated programs, as well as domains linked to their command and control servers.

I spent months testing the top Android keyboards; one easily replaced Gboard for good

The author initially favored Google Gboard but began exploring alternatives due to declining typing accuracy and clipboard management issues. They found Microsoft SwiftKey's stable version effective for swiping, predictive text, and multi-language support, but were disappointed with its voice input feature. Transitioning to SwiftKey Beta improved voice typing significantly, though it still lacks support for some niche languages and font scaling options. FUTO Keyboard is noted for its privacy and offline functionality but has limited language support and clipboard management. Samsung Keyboard, now the author's primary choice on their Galaxy Tab, offers deep integration with One UI and improved text prediction, though voice input still needs work. Gboard remains competent, especially in voice typing, but the author feels it is becoming less appealing due to data harvesting concerns and limited customization. Currently, the author plans to continue using Microsoft SwiftKey Beta, which meets most of their typing needs.
