Switch puzzler Suika Game will soon be launching on PC

Aladdin X's Suika Game, after its successful debut on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, will be released on PC via Steam. The game has achieved 7.4 million downloads on the Switch and over 13 million total sales. The PC version will include customization options, controller support, Steam Achievements, and will require a maximum of 16 GB of RAM and a minimum of 2 GB of storage space. The launch date is not yet announced, and compatibility with the Steam Deck is uncertain.

Portal 2 just got a Steam Frame compatibility rating, hinting at the VR headset’s imminent launch

Valve is set to launch the Steam Frame this summer, with the classic game Portal 2 receiving a compatibility rating of Playable. The Playable rating is due to the lack of support for the Steam Frame's native resolution, meaning while the game runs smoothly, it won't utilize the headset's full resolution capabilities. The Steam Frame features a resolution of 2,160 × 2,160 for each eye, an upgrade from the Valve Index's 1,440 × 1,600 resolution. It also offers standalone gaming capabilities, unlike the Index, which required a PC connection. Valve's compatibility rating system includes Unsupported, Playable, and Verified categories. A late August release for the Steam Frame is anticipated, following the timeline of previous product launches.

Microsoft confirms Windows 11 version 26H2 is coming soon: Reveals some devices won’t be eligible

Microsoft has announced the upcoming release of Windows 11 version 26H2, which will follow versions 25H2 and 24H2, all built on the same platform from 2024. Version 26H2 will not introduce significant changes compared to version 25H2, as it shares the same feature set. Users on Windows 11 version 26H1, which is tailored for Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 and NVIDIA RTX Spark devices, will not be able to upgrade to 26H2 this fall. An upgrade path for 26H1 users to version 27H2 may be available by the end of next year. The exact launch date for version 26H2 has not been specified, but it is expected to roll out towards the end of September or into October.

After a delay in 2025 and two delays this year (plus two more short delays this morning) mech fortress-builder Sand has finally launched

Sand: Raiders of Sophie is a PvPvE extraction shooter set in an alien desert where players build and pilot mechanical bases while battling rivals and their own creations. The game's early access launch was initially scheduled for April 2025 but was postponed to March 2026, then to June 10, and finally delayed to June 22, reverting to an early access model. On the launch day, technical issues caused a delay of "an hour or two" before the game was released on Steam after a countdown. The game is currently available at a 21% discount for two weeks.

Google sets launch date for review of Android apps distributed outside the Play Store

Google's upcoming Android app verification system will begin on September 30, 2026, restricting the installation of apps from unverified developers outside the Google Play ecosystem. Certified Android device users will be unable to install apps from developers lacking Google verification, which requires identity authentication through the Android Developer Console. A list of participating app stores includes Google Play, Samsung Galaxy Store, Xiaomi GetApps, HONOR App Market, OPPO App Market, vivo V-Appstore, and Palm Store by Transsion. A new system component, com.google.android.verifier, will be integrated into certified devices running Android 8 or later. In August, Google will introduce a feature called Advanced Flow, allowing users to install unverified apps through a complex process. A Limited Distribution mode for independent developers will enable app distribution to a maximum of 20 devices without registration fees or document verification. The regulations will initially be implemented in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand, with plans for a global rollout by 2027.
