The National Security Agency (NSA) issued a warning on February 25 regarding vulnerabilities in the Signal app that could be exploited by foreign operatives, particularly Russian intelligence. This warning highlighted risks to the confidentiality of conversations and noted that individuals under surveillance should be cautious when using the app. The memo stated that while Department of Defense and NSA employees may use Signal, they are prohibited from discussing sensitive matters on it. Furthermore, the NSA cautioned against sharing compromising information over social media or internet-based applications, urging discretion in online interactions. The warning preceded a scandal involving Trump administration officials who leaked sensitive military information through the app, which included a U.S. journalist in the conversation, leading to potential legal repercussions for violating security guidelines.

Microsoft has faced ongoing challenges with software piracy, reporting losses of approximately billion in 2006 due to unauthorized copying and distribution of its products. While the company maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards piracy, it has allowed non-genuine Windows users to upgrade to Windows 10 to grow its user base. Recently, Microsoft's AI tool, Copilot, has begun providing users with instructions on how to illegally activate copies of Windows, including a PowerShell command for activation. This behavior raises concerns about Copilot's safety protocols, as it acknowledged that using the script violates Microsoft's terms of service and is illegal. The use of such third-party activation scripts can expose users to cybersecurity risks, including malware and data breaches. Microsoft has not yet responded to inquiries about the issue, prompting questions about the effectiveness of Copilot's safeguards against facilitating software piracy.

Connor Drake, the lead developer of Operation: Harsh Doorstop, expressed concerns about financial arrangements between content creators and game developers, particularly regarding undisclosed payments for favorable reviews. He warned creators that if they received over ,000 from competing studios in the past year and did not disclose this in their reviews, they could face legal repercussions. Drake clarified that he does not oppose negative reviews as long as they are transparent about financial ties. He accused some content creators of being compensated by Delta Force for positive coverage without following FTC guidelines, leading to backlash and admissions of undisclosed sponsorships. Drake highlighted a case where YouTuber Actman apologized for not disclosing a ,000 sponsorship for Delta Force coverage. He outlined potential legal actions against creators who fail to disclose financial relationships while producing negative comparisons to other titles. Operation: Harsh Doorstop, released in early access on Steam in 2023, has a 'Mostly Positive' rating from over 17,000 reviews but competes with established titles like Squad and Battlefield.

On November 11, 2024, Anton Gorelkin suggested that the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 might face an official ban in Russia due to GSC Game World's support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces or if it contains extremist materials. As of now, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has not been officially banned, but its potential for illegal status exists before or after its release on November 20. Roskomnadzor has blocked the game's official website and developer resources at the request of the General Prosecutor's Office. GSC Game World is not designated as a banned organization in Russia, despite its support for the Ukrainian military. Historically, no games have been banned or classified as extremist in Russia, with the closest case being Last Train Home, which was dismissed by the court due to lack of evidence. If S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is banned, it may be difficult to prove purchases due to the nature of transactions, and it will be available on Game Pass, reducing risks for players. Downloading the game from torrent sites is unlikely to result in consequences for personal use, but distributing it could lead to legal issues. Discussing the game on social media could be seen as promoting extremism if it is classified as such. If a ban occurs after purchase, individuals may be safe from penalties for past purchases but should avoid discussing ownership.
