Gemini 3.5 Transcribe is a new speech-to-text model designed for intelligent voice interactions, overcoming challenges faced by traditional speech recognition systems, such as background noise and complex jargon. The model supports two APIs: real-time streaming for interactive applications with sub-second latency and pre-recorded audio processing that includes speaker attribution and word-level timestamps. It enhances transcription accuracy by managing self-corrections, eliminating filler words, and auto-formatting text. The model has a Word Error Rate of 4.0% for streaming and 2.6% for non-streaming scenarios, effectively capturing alphanumeric entities. It adapts to custom vocabulary, supports over 85 languages, and can identify multiple speakers in pre-recorded audio.

Dave W. Plummer has developed a new Task Manager called TMOG (Task Manager OG) from a 107-page specification. He is the original architect of the 80KB Task Manager for Windows NT 4.0, released in 1996. TMOG is compatible with Windows 11, macOS, and Linux. Plummer began working on TMOG while waiting at the hospital during his son's emergency appendectomy and completed a functional app by the time his son was discharged. He further enhanced TMOG during a subsequent hospital stay due to his son's internal bleeding. The app features 60 Hz animations and various customization options. Initial versions were created in four and a half hours and functioned well on the first attempt. User feedback on beta versions has been positive, although some minor issues remain.

A new feature in the Windows Insider program for Windows 11 allows users to designate specific amounts of unified memory for graphics and AI applications, discovered in build 29648 by user @XenoPanther. Unified memory enables sharing between the CPU, GPU, and other processors, with support for up to 128GB of unified RAM from NVIDIA and integrated features from AMD.
