Several utilities have been left out of Windows 11, including: - Windows Easy Transfer: A tool that allowed users to transfer files and settings between PCs using a USB flash drive. It was not included in Windows 10 and remains absent in Windows 11. - Windows Media Center: An application that transformed PCs into media hubs for watching movies, listening to music, and recording television shows. It did not transition to Windows 10 and is also missing in Windows 11. - Taskbar Toolbars: A feature that enabled users to pin folders to the taskbar for quick access. This feature is not present in Windows 11. - Steps Recorder: A troubleshooting tool that recorded screen actions and documented steps taken during processes. Although initially available in Windows 11, it has been deprecated. These omissions have disappointed users who valued the functionality these tools provided.

Microsoft has introduced a new feature in Windows 11 that allows users to permanently opt out of prompts encouraging them to back up files with OneDrive. The updated full-screen backup prompt now includes an "Opt out of backup" button, which was observed on PCs running stable Windows 11 25H2 builds without the OneDrive sync client installed. This option enables users to indicate their preference against OneDrive integration without uninstalling OneDrive or affecting existing files and synchronization settings. The feature aims to eliminate intrusive backup notifications that previously required users to either continue with OneDrive backup or postpone the prompt. Although the option appeared on at least one system in 2025, it is now being rolled out to a broader range of stable installations. The August 27 update notes from Microsoft do not mention this new opt-out button, suggesting it may be rolling out independently.

Xodus is an open-source project aimed at enabling Linux and macOS users to access Xbox PC and PC Game Pass subscriptions without Windows. Developed by the team behind the Heroic Game Launcher, Xodus builds on existing functionalities to allow gameplay from various platforms. The project has successfully created an Xbox authorization system for users to log in, verify licenses, and identify available Game Pass titles. However, challenges remain in launching games, requiring reverse engineering of Microsoft technologies like the Game Development Kit (GDK) and MSIXVC format. Compatibility issues are anticipated, particularly with older Universal Windows Platform (UWP) games, such as Forza Horizon 3. Additionally, launching games will necessitate the use of Linux technologies like Wine, DXVK, or VKD3D-Proton, complicating full compatibility with the Game Pass catalog.
