The newly-released sandbox adventure game Hytale originated from a Minecraft mod called Hypixel. A modder known as u/ssquadteam (iamcxv7) has developed a method for crossplay between Minecraft and Hytale, allowing players to build, chat, and engage in combat together. This innovation involves running a Minecraft server within the Hytale JVM, using Hytale's coordinate system to reconstruct the game world. The mod is currently unstable and not publicly available, with ongoing development needed for certain features. Hytale's co-founder, Simon Collins-Laflamme, noted that the game has generated enough revenue to fund the next two years of development.

A Minecraft mod inspired by Apex Legends has been developed by a solo creator, 'Lonely_Run2204,' who has integrated seven characters from the game into the mod. The gameplay features a squad of three players facing off against 19 squads of AI bots with tactical abilities. The mod includes detailed character abilities, reload mechanics, and movement techniques from Apex Legends. Currently, the map is built from existing resources, but there are plans for a 1:1 scale version of the Apex map, which is on hold due to the need for collaborators. The community response has been very positive, with users praising the effort and craftsmanship involved in the project. Future updates may include additional characters.

A team of over 20 modders launched Portal: Java Edition on August 22, a free remake of Valve’s 2011 puzzle game, created within vanilla Minecraft. The project uses resource and data packs and includes all signature mechanics from the original game, featuring 50 levels across eight map packs. It also offers a user-friendly level editor for players to create their own challenges. Players need to own Minecraft: Java Edition on PC and download files from GitHub, with some potentially needing to revert to an earlier version for compatibility.

Hypixel Studios has ceased development on its sandbox game, Hytale, due to insufficient financial support and challenges in aligning its vision with the evolving sandbox gaming landscape. The studio, founded in 2016 and acquired by Riot Games in 2020, faced difficulties despite a major overhaul of the game engine. Riot Games assisted in seeking additional investors but ultimately decided to halt the project, providing support to the team during the transition. The existing Hypixel Minecraft server will continue to operate independently. The announcement comes amid significant layoffs in the gaming industry, with over 10,500 jobs lost in 2023 and projections of an additional 14,600 in 2024.

Minecraft allows players to enable cheats to enhance their gaming experience. To enable cheats during world creation: - Bedrock: Go to the Cheats tab in the Create New World menu and enable the Cheats setting. In Creative mode, cheats are enabled by default. - Java: Enable Creative mode to automatically activate cheats or toggle the Allow Commands option for a survival world. To enable cheats after world creation: - Bedrock: Pause the game, go to Settings, and activate cheats in Game settings. - Java: Load the world, pause the game, select Open to LAN, toggle Allow Commands, and start the LAN world. To disable cheats: - Bedrock: Access the Activate Cheats option in Settings and turn it off. - Java: Close and reopen the world to reset cheat access if cheats were enabled via LAN. Cheats cannot be disabled in a creative world once enabled. Cheats primarily refer to commands, which can be used by opening the chat with the T key and entering the desired command. For building, the /fill command or mods like WorldEdit can be used.
