The latest update to Slack has introduced an Android widget that allows users to manage their Slack status directly from their home screen. This feature enhances accessibility by enabling users to view and reset their status without navigating through the app. The widget aims to improve mobile usability, despite some quirks in scrolling, and is designed to help busy professionals stay connected more efficiently.

Google has introduced the Deep Research tool in its Gemini app for Android users, previously available only on the web. This tool allows Gemini users to generate comprehensive reports quickly, with a gradual rollout for select users. To use it, Gemini Advanced users must select the “1.5 Pro with Deep Research” option, input queries, and customize an outline before generating the report. The report includes sourced references and typically takes five to ten minutes to generate, although complex inquiries may take longer. Users can leave the chat interface and receive a notification when the report is ready. Feedback on the tool has been mixed, with some users noting its strengths in broader topics but weaknesses in specific requests. OpenAI has also launched a similar Deep Research feature, indicating a trend in advanced research tools for mobile applications.
