One of the biggest and best game mods of all time is now a one-click install on GOG — but there’s one huge downside

The "One-Click Mod" system on GOG allows users to install and play mods with a single click, including the STALKER GAMMA modpack for STALKER Anomaly. To use this feature, players must own either STALKER: Call of Pripyat or STALKER 2 on GOG. Call of Pripyat is priced at .99, while STALKER 2 is priced at .99, both with current discounts. Players who own these titles on Steam may find it unappealing to repurchase them on GOG and can alternatively install GAMMA through Discord. Unreal Engine 5.7 Venice Next-Gen Tech Demo Released

Scans Factory has released a tech demo using Unreal Engine 5.7, featuring the city of Venice, which is available for download. The demo includes over 500 assets, allowing players to explore various aspects of Venetian life. Performance testing on a high-end gaming rig showed 40FPS at Native 4K resolution with Cinematic Settings, and over 65FPS at Ultra settings. Timesplitters Rewind Is Available For Download In Early Access

Cinder Interactive has released the Early Access version of TimeSplitters Rewind, which is an anthology of the original TimeSplitters trilogy. The game features 28 maps, 50 arcade leagues, 32 challenges, 91 characters, 41 weapons, and 20 arcade game modes. It supports up to ten players in online matches and includes both online and offline story modes, with a new Team Elimination mode. Development took over a decade. The minimum system requirements are an Intel Atom C2750, 8GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760.

After a fairytale rescue, Minecraft rival Hytale sets “aggressively low” price as it isn’t “waiting for perfection”

Hypixel Studios is set to revive the sandbox game Hytale after successfully repurchasing the rights from Riot Games. Co-founder Simon Collins-Laflamme emphasizes that the project is a passion endeavor aimed at benefiting the community, despite the financial risks involved. The game will be priced at .99, with additional supporter and founders packs available for .99 and .99, respectively. Collins-Laflamme aims to keep the price low to encourage player participation during challenging economic times. The team is currently finalizing the launch date, which involves hardware tests, legal documentation, and game stabilization. Pre-orders, name reservations, and account creation are expected to begin soon. The technical director has indicated that the game will be released before achieving perfection to allow for community experimentation, and Hytale will not take any revenue from modders and server owners for the first two years.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 PC Performance Analysis

Activision has released Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, utilizing the IW Engine. Performance benchmarks were conducted using high-end hardware, including the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and various graphics cards such as the AMD Radeon RX 6900XT and NVIDIA RTX 4090, on a Windows 10 system. The game features over 300 customizable settings for PC gamers and supports Intel XeSS and AMD FSR 4.0. Ray Tracing is available in Multiplayer and Zombies modes but not in the Campaign. All tested GPUs achieved over 60 FPS at 1080p on maximum settings, with AMD hardware showing superior performance. At 1440p, most GPUs maintained smooth gameplay, except for the NVIDIA RTX 2080Ti. At Native 4K, the top five GPUs exceeded 60 FPS, with AMD GPUs performing well against NVIDIA counterparts. The game has visual appeal but suffers from pop-in issues and inconsistent texture quality. Gameplay is smooth with minimal stuttering and responsive controls. Overall, the game performs well across various PC configurations, though its visual quality may not meet franchise expectations.

The sequel to one of my favorite 3D platformers always had a janky PC port, but a huge fanmade patch just dropped in hopes to fix it

American McGee's Alice has a sequel called Madness Returns, which faced issues on PC since its 2011 release due to a problematic port. A modder named Wemino has created a custom patch called MadnessPatch to enhance the gaming experience. Key improvements of the patch include upgraded textures, correctly scaling subtitles for resolutions above 720p, optimized camera for ultrawide resolutions, stability fixes for crashes and broken physics at high framerates, and support for windowed mode. The mod has received positive feedback from fans and approval from American McGee. Despite McGee's attempts to persuade EA to support a third installment, he has abandoned the idea due to the company's lack of interest. Madness Returns is available on Steam for ten dollars, while the original Alice game is not currently available on digital storefronts.
