Arrowhead Game Studios has reduced the file size of Helldivers 2 for PC by 85%, from 154GB to approximately 23GB. A public technical beta is currently underway, allowing select users to experience the new file size and provide feedback. Players can still matchmake with others and opt-out of the beta at any time. If successful, the slim version will become the standard, with plans to phase out the legacy version next year. The latest patch also includes balance changes and bug fixes, though some players are disappointed by the removal of the feature that allowed "Factory Striders" to be launched erratically.

The Wheel of Time is a first-person spell-slinger game developed by Legend Entertainment and released in 1999. It features an engaging single-player campaign and an innovative multiplayer mode but struggled to compete in a saturated market of first-person shooters. The game's development took five years, with creator Dahlgren initially envisioning a multiplayer shooter that combined elements from Doom and Magic: The Gathering. After Legend was acquired by Random House, Dahlgren proposed creating a game based on The Wheel of Time, which allowed for a narrative-driven adventure. Dahlgren presented the game to Robert Jordan, who approved it, stating, "Yes, this is beautiful."
