Cooperative climbing game Peak has released an update to its Steam beta branch, patch 0.8.d, which includes new items and quality of life enhancements. A notable fix addresses a gameplay contradiction where players previously won even after dying; now, players must be alive and have reached the peak to win. The update also introduces a setting to reduce camera bob, allows players to pause during offline play, and adds new music for sunrises and sunsets. Two new items, a flying disc and binoculars, have been added to the crash site. Additionally, the patch fixes issues with poisonous parasites, adjusts Napberry plants, resolves rare achievement triggers, and addresses black screens in spectator mode. The beta branch offers different maps that refresh every 24 hours.

A remixed version of Jack Black’s song ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’ from A Minecraft Movie has been added to Minecraft with the 1.21.94 update on July 14. The song, which is 34 seconds long, became the shortest-ever Billboard chart hit in April and reached Number 21 on the UK Top 40 charts. Players can obtain the music disc featuring Hyper Potions’ rendition by defeating a baby Zombie riding a Chicken, known as a Chicken Jockey. The addition received mixed reactions from gamers, with some praising it and others wishing for it to fade. The film adaptation of Minecraft has been successful in 2025, leading to discussions about cinema etiquette due to audience behavior during screenings. Jack Black made a surprise appearance at a screening, advising fans against disruptive actions. Additionally, Tony Hawk discussed his efforts to include tracks from Fontaines D.C. and IDLES in the Pro Skater 3+4 soundtrack.

Microsoft will discontinue its Movies & TV digital storefront on Xbox consoles and Windows devices on July 18, 2025, ending the ability to purchase new movies and TV shows through the Microsoft Store. Users will still have access to previously purchased content via the Movies & TV application on their devices. The closure will affect new entertainment content acquisitions on Microsoft.com and the Microsoft Store on Windows and Xbox, but users can continue to enjoy their existing digital libraries. The refund policy for movies and TV shows will remain unchanged, with purchases being ineligible for refunds. Content portability options are available through Movies Anywhere for U.S. residents, but direct migration to alternative services is largely unavailable. Third-party entertainment services will continue to be available on Microsoft's platforms for new content purchases. The Movies & TV storefront has been operational since 2015, evolving from earlier services. Microsoft will maintain server infrastructure for existing content libraries and provide ongoing support for previously purchased content. Content licensing agreements will dictate the availability of purchased titles.

Bandai Namco is set to release a game that combines elements of Pac-Man and Metroidvania on July 17, 2025, priced at £25. In this game, the character Puck consumes fallen enemies to transform into a mech for a brief invincibility period. The game features a linear start but expands into a Metroidvania world with navigation puzzles and platforming challenges. It includes maze levels reminiscent of classic Pac-Man gameplay, set to energetic dance music and a five-minute timer. The narrative has a disjointed feel, with dialogue often filled with clichés. Gemini has begun its phased rollout on Android watches equipped with Wear OS 4 and above. It offers improved natural language command recognition and tailored responses from Google's Search LLM, allowing users to interact seamlessly with Google and Samsung applications. Gemini can create Google Calendar reminders and YouTube Music playlists through voice commands. It provides specific examples in response to queries, such as suggesting foods rich in carotenoids, and can deliver concise answers to spontaneous inquiries. Gemini efficiently pulls data from Search and Maps for tasks like finding local theater showtimes and creating calendar entries. Users can select default applications for tasks, enhancing speed and functionality. Battery consumption is manageable, with only about 20% used during a full afternoon of heavy use. However, it occasionally misinterprets commands and could benefit from brevity in responses. A "View on phone" button and better recognition of speech completion would improve user experience. Support for the new One UI 8 Watch Tile format could enhance functionality further.
