Audiotool 3.0 has launched, introducing real-time multiplayer music creation capabilities via web browsers and tablets, with mobile applications planned. The update features NEXUS, an open-source SDK that allows users to create their own instruments, plugins, and AI tools within the Audiotool ecosystem. The platform aims to enhance collaboration by addressing issues like device discrepancies and incompatible plugins, boasting the lowest latency among online music production tools. Users can design custom instruments, effects, and applications, and the SDK supports AI integrations. Launch partners for NEXUS include Splice, Ujam, BandM8, and Fraunhofer, and Audiotool is hosting a hackathon series until August 23 to encourage innovation.

Google is putting more of Gemini’s best features right at your fingerprints

Google has updated its Gemini overlay, introducing an expanded Plus (+) menu that includes new tools such as video generation, music creation, Canvas, and Guided Learning. The redesigned layout allows users to perform common actions directly from the overlay, enhancing accessibility and usability. The Plus (+) button now serves as a more robust entry point, although the repositioning of the feature carousel may slightly hinder one-handed usability on larger devices. Familiar shortcuts like Photos, Camera, Files, and Drive remain, ensuring continuity for users. The updated overlay integrates more deeply into the Android ecosystem, reducing the need to launch the main app and aiming to make Gemini a more integral part of users' daily tasks.

Gemini’s music generator is here, and I think this is where everyday AI gets interesting

Gemini now generates 30-second songs with lyrics based on text prompts or photos, powered by Google's Lyria 3 model. Users can type a prompt or upload an image/video to create a share-ready song with custom cover art. The feature includes automatic lyric generation, style control, and produces more realistic audio. It will debut on YouTube Shorts in the U.S. and expand globally, allowing for customizable backing tracks and lyrics for short videos. Each track includes SynthID, an invisible watermark for identifying AI-generated content. Lyria 3 is available in the Gemini app for users aged 18 and older, supporting multiple languages. The launch will start on desktop, with mobile access planned, and higher usage limits for subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra.
