Users of Windows 11 Pro 24H2 are experiencing issues accessing Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives on local networks after a recent system update, resulting in error messages that disrupt workflow and data accessibility. This problem is attributed to compatibility issues introduced by the update. Troubleshooting steps include checking network settings, updating network drivers, adjusting firewall settings, rebooting devices, and accessing the NAS via its IP address.

Standard-class hard disk drives (HDD) or solid-state drives (SSD) are not designed for heavier workloads or 24/7 use, while NAS or server drives like Western Digital Red and Seagate IronWolf series are more suitable for working with lots of data. When setting up a storage pool using RAID in Windows 11, all data on selected drives will be wiped.

- Before setting up File History, you need an external storage device such as a USB drive or a NAS device. - To set up File History in Windows 11, search for it in the Start menu, connect the external drive, and select Turn on. - To add new locations to File History, add file folders to a Library. - To change the backup interval and retention settings of File History, go to the Advanced settings menu. - To restore files from a File History backup, open File History, select Restore personal files, and choose the file to restore. - Windows File History is a quick way to keep files backed up without the cloud, but it is not a replacement for image backups and requires an external drive to be connected.
