New Plex update means you need a pass for remote viewing on your TV

Plex is requiring Roku users to have either a Remote Watch Pass or a Plex Pass for remote streaming starting this week, with plans to extend similar requirements to Android TV, Fire TV, and Apple TV by 2026. Users need a Plex Pass or Remote Watch Pass to access a Plex server outside its home network, although server owners can bypass this fee by subscribing to a Plex Pass. The Plex Pass is available for a monthly, yearly, or one-time lifetime fee, while the Remote Watch Pass is offered on a monthly or annual basis.

Gemini chat controls may be about to change in the Google app (APK teardown)

Google, Gmail, and Meet hit by widespread outage, causing login issues

Google experienced a significant outage this morning, affecting services such as Google Meet, Gmail, and Drive, starting around 11 am ET. Over 6,000 users reported login issues on DownDetector, encountering '502' error messages. The outage also impacted third-party websites using Google credentials for authentication. Google acknowledged the problem and confirmed that their engineering team was working on a solution. By 8:30 am PDT (11:30 am ET), they identified the cause and restored functionality. Additionally, Google Maps faced loading issues, displaying only outlines without names, but this was also resolved.

Waze will end updates for older Android devices soon

Waze has introduced a new requirement in its beta version (v5.9.90) that users must have Android 10 or higher to access future features and updates, changing from the previous requirement of Android 8.0 or higher. Support for Android 9.0 has ended, and while users on older versions can still use the app, they will not receive updates or new features. This change is expected to reach non-beta users soon, typically within one to two weeks after the beta release. As of earlier this year, only 5.8% of Android devices were operating on Android 9.0 or older.

Google Maps continues its mission to be mappier than ever with expansion of sheets UI redesign
