West Virginia University (WVU) will disconnect all computers still using the outdated Windows 10 system from the network effective October 1. This decision is part of a two-year campaign to transition devices to the more secure Windows 11 platform. The directive applies to all WVU campuses, including the Health Sciences Center. Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows 10 this fall, meaning devices on this system will not receive security updates, posing a risk to the university's network. Exemptions to the policy may be requested in rare cases, and IT directors should contact InfoSec@mail.wvu.edu for assistance.
