Factorio: Space Age review

Factorio's upcoming expansion, Factorio: Space Age, is set to release on October 21, 2024, for £30. The produced space science is sent back to the planet via drop-pods for further exploration. Players can choose which planet to explore first, each presenting distinct challenges and environments. The expansion increases the complexity of the game, requiring innovative problem-solving while introducing streamlined mechanics.

The upcoming expansion of Factorio, titled Space Age, introduces new enemies called Pentapods, which are alien creatures resembling starfish with five legs. The Pentapod family includes three types: Wrigglers, which are smaller and attack players; Strafers, which launch Wrigglers from a distance; and Stompers, the largest type that can crush obstacles. The Pentapods are attracted to players by organic crops rather than pollution, differing from the Biters in the base game. Players will need to gather Pentapod eggs to create biochambers for producing industrial products on the new planet Gleba. Additionally, a free 2.0 update will enhance gameplay with smarter worker robots, new rail systems, a remote viewing feature, and an updated fluid system.

The Space Age expansion for Factorio is set to launch in October alongside a major 2.0 update. The expansion will introduce five new planets with unique resources and technologies, as well as new gameplay elements such as defending against asteroids and managing cargo transportation between planets.
