The Seoul Central District Court ruled that Ironmace did not infringe upon Nexon’s copyright related to the P3 project in the development of the game Dark and Darker. However, the court ordered Ironmace to pay 8.5 billion won (approximately .87 million) in damages to Nexon, acknowledging the impact of Ironmace's actions on fair market competition. Nexon has been involved in this legal battle since 2021, claiming that a former lead from its P3 project misappropriated source codes and data to create Ironmace and develop Dark and Darker. Nexon plans to pursue further legal action through a higher court. Ironmace expressed respect for the court's ruling.

Shift Up aims for a 2025 release for their PlayStation 5 exclusive, Stellar Blade. The company anticipates that the PC version will outperform the console version, citing trends in the gaming industry. Stellar Blade surpassed one million units sold three months post-launch. The game's exclusivity has sparked discussions among gamers, with some critics questioning its sales performance given the large console user base. Shift Up's decision to partner with Sony contrasts with Pearl Abyss, which chose to publish independently. The success of other multiplatform titles suggests potential missed financial opportunities for Shift Up. Future negotiations could allow for Stellar Blade to be released on additional platforms, depending on the expiration of their contract with Sony.

South Korean game development is shifting from online and free-to-play models to a focus on single-player experiences for PC and console platforms. Developers from studios like Round8 Studio, Shift Up, and Pearl Abyss are increasingly creating single-player titles, with notable releases including Lies of P, Stellar Blade, and Crimson Desert. Established online and mobile publishers are also diversifying, with Nexole preparing to launch The First Berserker: Khazan and NCSoft planning to release Throne and Liberty on consoles. This trend indicates a significant shift towards the traditional console and PC market, driven by player demand for new experiences. The expansion into single-player games allows South Korean developers to access new international markets, as the domestic audience for these games is limited. Round8 Studio's CEO noted that Lies of P was designed for a global audience, while Shift Up's CEO revealed that only 5 percent of Stellar Blade's sales came from South Korea. There are signs of change in game development education, with fewer students focusing on mobile games. Demographic shifts among mobile gamers are influencing this transition, as older players prefer grind-based monetization models. However, some industry professionals see potential for growth in the console market, estimating a 4-5 percent increase in market share since the PlayStation 4's launch. The development of Stellar Blade has been challenging, requiring the team to learn many aspects from scratch.
