More than 1,000 classic RPGs, strategy games, and horror greats are wildly cheap in GOG’s “Classics” PC sale, and are we OK with Skyrim officially being labeled an “old game?”

GOG is hosting a sale featuring over 1,000 classic PC games, including influential RPGs, strategy games, and horror titles. The sale includes notable games such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout series, Ultima series, Baldur's Gate series, Outlast, Silent Hill 4, and Resident Evil series. The sale has dedicated eight pages to discounted strategy games and concludes on April 25.

Nintendo GameCube modified to run PowerPC Windows NT and Doom

A new build of Windows NT for PowerPC, named Entii for WorkCubes, has been optimized for the Nintendo GameCube and Wii consoles, available on GitHub. This build theoretically supports the Wii U but does not utilize its additional PowerPC cores or enhanced GPU capabilities. YouTuber @emukid_id has showcased the installation and functionality of this build, including a gameplay session of The Ultimate Doom at a low resolution. The build supports various peripherals, including a GameCube controller with a keyboard, and utilizes the standard USB ports on the Wii and Wii U for expanded input options. However, online functionalities are limited, and compatibility with modern web pages is poor. The GameCube has 24MB of system RAM, while the Wii has a CPU-overclocked architecture and upgraded GPU. Future support for NT 3.5 on the Wii U could enhance the experience by utilizing its 1GB of RAM and triple CPU cores.

Backyard Baseball ’97

Backyard Baseball '97 is being rereleased by Playground Productions, developed by Mega Cat Studios, and is available exclusively on PC through Steam for .99. The game retains its original charm with minor enhancements and will launch on October 10. It features a cast of child athletes with unique personalities, allowing for quick matches or a career mode. The game does not support gamepads and relies on mouse and keyboard controls. The original source code was lost, limiting new features. Each season consists of 14 games, and players can customize their teams and gameplay settings.
